The Youth Hostel has a unique location, on the southern coast of the Batz Island, in 5 houses disseminated on nearly 3 acres, overlooking the splendid channel which connects the Abers coast to the Bay of Morlaix. The insular life is simple and authentic, and goes by at the rhythm of the tides. One can't help but feel overwhelmed by the magic of the place. 48 beds in 3 to 9 beds rooms + 32 beds under tents during the summer. Dining room with a fireplace.

Access Road : A11 Paris-Rennes, then RN12 to  Morlaix, then D58 to Roscoff. From the center: crossing to the Batz Island (20 minutes).

Description

The Youth Hostel is located in the west part of Angers (on the way to Nantes) on the university campus. It is also idealy located near 2 places dedicated to nature : the Lac de Maine and the Etang Saint Nicolas (pond). A well adapted housind facilty (rooms with 1, 2, or 3 beds). Friendly atmosphere. TV, snooker, table football, table tennis...). A roomy, comfortable and functional restaurant.

Angers, city of Arts and History:

The castle - with its 17 towers - one of the best preserved french fortresses. Inside, you will be able to admire the wonderful "Tapisseries de l'Apocalypse" (tapestries).

The Saint Maurice Cathedral, built during the 13th century (75 m high). The top of the Cathedral overlooks the "Angevine Cross" which is the symbol of the city. Inside, an exhibition of some very rare pieces of jewellery. The old Saint Jean hospital houses the "le Chant du Monde" (world famous modern tapestries by Jean Lurçat).

The David d'Angers Museum: spectacular masterpieces.

Angers, green city: the botanical gardens, the Parc de la Haye (trees and flowers along the Etang Saint Nicolas make this park a paradise for joggers or walkers), le Lac de Maine with the "beach" and its own water sports centre.
